(Reuters) – Test captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Jofra Archer will get every opportunity to prove their fitness ahead of next year’s Twenty20 World Cup, England coach Matthew Mott said.

Stokes, 32, underwent knee surgery last month, while Archer has suffered a series of injuries.

“Ben, apart from his incredible ability to win games in every division, gives us that ability to have a footballer in your top six which gives you a lot of options with the balance of your team,” Mott said.

“As far as Jofra is concerned, he’s just got absolute pace at the box office, change of pace, swoop in every innings. Throwing the Super Over, bowling the last ball when they need to. He’s in the park huge, everyone will agree with that.”

England, who will be defending their title in the World Cup, will face West Indies in the decider of the five-match T20 series later on Thursday.
