Acrobay Gymnastics were represented at the Pat Wade Classic 2023, a national championship for high-level gymnasts, in Stoke-on-Trent and took home gold and bronze medals.
Each partnership from the Rosyth-based club performed admirably, with two taking top honours, and another finishing third in its category.
Ivy Asamoa and Nosa Edhin took gold in the women’s youth pairs category, while Lily McHale, Imara Beattie and Chloe Cameron also took gold in the women’s 11-16 group category, with Georgia Haddow, Jorja Smith and Alana McClymont taking bronze.
The junior trio of Freya Walker, Ruby Cunningham and Poppy Green also came ninth in a tough category, and Acrobai coach Susan Fraser commented: “The Pat Wade Championships are very competitive and just being there is huge for the gymnasts. Taking home medals was important.” An amazing achievement.
“I know I sound like a broken record, but I have to say it again – I am so proud of our gymnasts.”
The latest success for Acrobay, whose base is in Primrose Lane, comes after Molly McHale, Daisy Campbell and Nephele Idehen recently represented Great Britain at the 2023 European Aerobatics Championships, finishing fourth.
In addition, Scarlett Haldane, Emma Nelson and Ella Gracie were named Gymnasts of the Year at the Scottish Gymnastics Awards, with Akrobai being named Club of the Year, having won gold representing Great Britain at the Gothenburg Cup in Mainz, Germany.
