EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) – BP Elite Gymnastics has been working on going to an international competition.
The team went to Puerto Rico and competed among the best in the country in the second annual Laurie Hernandez Champion’s Challenge.
The goal was to send all 25 qualified athletes to Puerto Rico to compete, unfortunately the lack of funds was not able to accommodate all the gymnasts, but three athletes traveled to the island and brought back more than they expected.
With only four chances to qualify at USA, BP Elite had an opportunity unlike any other, with all of the girls recording the highest they had ever scored and placing overall in their respective levels.
Not only did the team have the opportunity to travel to a place they had never been before, but they also got to meet the gold medalist herself.
“You know when you’re thinking about something, I tell the girls it’s not impossible at all,” says Bresha Pruitt, owner of BP Elite. “We’re here to build confidence. We’re here to teach them that they can do whatever they want. Keep their mind in mind, I’m just here I try to help them achieve this.
With so much to achieve in the pre-season and celebrating their fifth year of operation, BP Elite hopes to continue traveling to more national and international competitions.
