Japanese coach Taka Minowa takes on a bigger role in the 2024 FBL season after being appointed Director of Volleyball Operations for both the Akari Chargers and Nxled Chameleons.
The announcement was made on Thursday, December 28, in a statement published on the Akari Sports website.
“Following an outstanding coaching debut in the NBL Premier Volleyball League, Nxled Chameleons head coach Taka Minowa will now assume the role of Director of Volleyball Operations for both his team and the Akari Chargers,” the statement read.
While Minowa will be responsible for overseeing the volleyball programs of the two sister teams, he will continue his coaching role with the Nxled Chameleons.
The Akari Chargers have not yet announced their interim coach after the resignation of Brazilian coach Jorge de Brito at the beginning of this month.
New assistant coaches for Akari and Naxlade are also expected to be revealed.
Akari and Nxled are looking to surpass their previous finishes in the season-ending conference also held this month, with the Chargers finishing with a 5-6 win-loss record in seventh place and the Chameleons with a 4-7 record in ninth place. First stint with the league.
