No. 1 volleyball player Skinner was named VolleyballMag.com Player of the Year

Austin, Texas – #1 in Texas Volleyball Madison Skinner He was named VolleyballMag.com National Player of the Year, marking the third straight season the Longhorn have won the award.

Skinner joined Asia O’Neill On the publication’s All-America First Team after the duo helped lead Texas to the 2023 national championship.

Gerrit Elliott He was also named National Coach of the Year by VolleyballMag.com.

In six NCAA matches, Skinner has totaled 125 kills (20.8 per game). In the national semifinals against Wisconsin, she had 18 kills, one assist, six aces and nine digs. Then in a sweep of Nebraska’s championship match, Skinner notched 16 more kills, two aces, five digs and a solo block. For the season, she racked up 547 big kills — 203 more than in 2022 — for an average of 4.8/set and added 46 aces. They also averaged 1.96 digs/set.

VolleyballMag.com voters were directed to a list of four teams and each had to feature at least one player and one free agent. The publication is also not beholden to the restrictions and nomination process that the AVCA adheres to and they are also waiting until after the NCAA semifinals and final to complete the voting.
