Visa and passport issues have left Australia’s senior national cricket team without a doctor, and the UAE’s under-19 team without a team manager.
Sohail Saleem, who was appointed as the official team doctor for the series in Australia and New Zealand, is yet to join the team.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board is still trying to get a visa for Dr Saleem and once that happens, he will join the team in Australia in time for the first Test in Perth,” a reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.
He similarly said that former Test batsman Shoaib Mohammed, who was appointed as the manager of the Pakistani junior team participating in the Asia Cup in the UAE, was also unable to leave with the team.
The source said: “Shuaib had some issues with an expired passport, and the board of directors is working to resolve them, and we hope that he will soon arrive in the UAE to take over.”
Ironically, even Sajid Khan, who is set to replace Abrar Ahmed in the Pakistan squad in Australia, has also had his departure delayed due to visa issues.
The source admitted that before naming officials to any touring band, the board of directors must ensure that they will leave with their teams on time.
