Jupiter outside hitter Sarah Brudner enjoyed an impressive senior season and led the Warriors to the Class 7A state semifinals. Brodner, a University of Virginia signee, was named the Sun Sentinel 7A-6A Palm Beach County girls volleyball player of the year.

The team captain led the Warriors to a 25-4 record as they captured the district and regional championships. Brodner led the team in kills and was the top performer all season. She recorded 10 kills during the three-set regional final win. She also went up with 15 kills in the state semifinals.

Brodner said her high school career was memorable, which included an undefeated run through the regular season and playoffs before a state semifinal loss during her sophomore season.

“It was definitely nice to be back in the States,” Brodner said. “That was our goal the whole season. We didn’t get too ahead of ourselves. We focused on every game. It was great to win the regional championship on our home court. I wanted to be a great leader for the young girls all season long. She’s been great the last four years.” “It’s family to me.”

Brodner also competed at the club level for several years, including with Jupiter Elite.

She said: “I was able to develop my skills by playing against older girls who were stronger and faster, and that helped me a lot.” “I was playing against Division I players.”

Brodner said she enjoys the opportunity to compete and scrimmage with her sister in club training. Ella is a standout overseas student at Jupiter Christian. Brodner said she will also be able to help her younger sister with the high school recruiting process.

Brodner, who is ranked fifth in the state in her class by Prep Dig, is looking forward to the opportunity to play at the University of Virginia.

“I had to be really dedicated to get to the next level,” she said. “No jumping jacks, practices and tournaments. One of my biggest strengths is my mental game. I’m very excited to be able to go to college and take a bigger step. I love the girls, the coaches and the campus. It’s a great academic school and I’ve found my home there.”
