Tarouba [Trinidad]December 20 (ANI): England opener Philip Salt praised his teammates and said they have done a good job in the ongoing series.
England registered a 75-run win over West Indies in the fourth T20I of the series at the Brian Lara Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking at the post-match show, the 27-year-old also praised the Caribbean bowling attack and said they bowled well after several overs in the first innings.
The wicketkeeper-batsman added that the match was even after the ball got older. He added that the English openers planned to keep their opponents under pressure during the match.
“I’m definitely enjoying it. It’s a great place to play cricket. The boys came out and did well. Very satisfying. The adjustments I made to my game were on the mental side. It’s a habit to score a lot. I think after the first few overs, they bowled well.” “It tied it up after the ball got older. Gus and I realized we could put them under pressure. They’re a very good team. You never know what Dre Ross can do,” Salt said.
After winning the toss West Indies decided to bowl first at the Brian Lara Stadium. However, Rovman Powell’s decision did not go in their favour, as the Caribbean bowling attack produced a poor performance.
Salt (119 runs off 57 balls) opened for the visitors and played a fiery knock with 7 fours and 10 sixes. Skipper Jos Buttler (55 runs off 29 balls) had a crucial partnership with Salt to get the upper hand in the match and push England to 267/3.
Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Akil Hossain were the only wicket takers.
In the 268-run run chase, England’s bowling attack prevailed to halt the Caribbeans to 192 runs. Andre Russell (51 runs off 25 balls) and Sharvan Rutherford (36 runs off 15 balls) were the only outstanding batsmen in the second innings. Caribbean failed to get a solid partnership which left them struggling while chasing the goal.
On the other hand, it was England’s bowling attack that helped them register a 75-run win in the fourth T20I. Topley took three wickets in 3.3 overs and gave away 37 runs and dominated the second innings.
Salt was named ‘Player of the Match’ after his attack in the first half. (that I)
