Former Pakistan bowler Danish Kaneria has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not including his name in the list of the country’s leading wicket-takers in Australia.

“Just look at the audacity of the Pakistan Cricket Board. I took 24 wickets in 5 matches in Australia but they removed my name from the list. The living example of absolute discrimination against me,” the former leg-spinner wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to the list released by PCB, left-arm seamer Wasim Akram is the leading wicket-taker for The Men in Green in Australia.

Although he is not on the list of highest wicket-taker, Down Under’s Kaneria is Pakistan’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in the red-ball game. He took 261 wickets at an average of 34.79. Wasim Akram (414), Waqar Younis (373) and Imran Khan (362) lead the spinners.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s current bowling attack, which was selected for the first of a three-match Test series in Perth, looked toothless. Waqar Younis lamented the lack of pace in Pakistan’s pace battery, saying there was no real pace after they lost the Test comprehensively.

“The other thing I’m worried about is that always when we come to Australia, the only thing that’s exciting is fast bowling and this time I don’t see that. I see medium pace or slow medium pace, in all respects, there’s no real pace. People are used to They come and watch Pakistani bowlers bowling hard and bowling 150 clicks, and that’s what I don’t see there,” Younis said on ESPN’s About The Wicket.

“That’s my concern and my problem because I haven’t seen that at the domestic level either. There are a few injured, I can understand that, but in the past you always saw a bunch of fast bowlers who could always bring them in, but unfortunately that’s not the case,” he added. “There is and I’m really worried about that.”

Pakistan will then play the second Test against Australia starting on Boxing Day, i.e. December 26.
