
The UOG men’s volleyball team won its second volleyball championship of the fall season Saturday night at the Guahan Juniors Volleyball Tournament at the Phoenix Center at Father Duenas Memorial School.
The Tritons opened the day with their final pool game against Temo’s Boys and won 30-25 as UOG finished the round robin with a 4-0 record.
UOG then played Adahi in the semi-finals and won 25-24, 25-21 in a close match.
UOG then faced a very strong U-Fly team in the championship match (U-Fly beat the Guam National Team in the other semi-final match) and lost the first set 25-10 as U-Fly looked unstoppable with a slugfest. Attack hit. But UOG picked itself up for the second set and the U-Fly offense slowed down and the Tritons won the second set 25-20 and UOG went on to win the third set 15-10 and the championship.
The Tritons will return to the Triton Men’s Volleyball League in late January.
UOG placed second in the Triton League fall tournament and won two community championships for an impressive showing in its first semester of men’s volleyball play.
