Dayton – Wright State Callie Martin She earned All-American honors from VolleyballMag.com, her second postseason honorable mention after being recognized by the AVCA earlier in December.
Martin was named Horizon League Player of the Year, one of two Raiders in program history to earn the honor, and was a two-time First Team HL performer and earned a spot on a pair of Horizon League All-Tournament teams, also recording an HL Second Team She nodded to the team earlier in her career. Martin’s final resume includes four Horizon League regular season championships, three HL tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Martin has played and started all 32 of Wright State’s contests over 117 sets this season, appearing in 127 games and 442 total sets in her career. Her 429.5 points and 3.67 points per set average led the Raider list, while her 351 total kills and 3.00 kills/set average were second on the Raider list. Martin finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the Horizon League in all four of those categories.
Martin posted a good 60 percent pass rate on the year, racking up 335 digs this fall, second most on the list, averaging 2.86 digs/set, and finishing with a .976 receiving percentage with a total of 12 receiving errors on 499 attempts. She added 33 assists and 30 aces to her final stat line, while recording 18 double-digit kill performances this season and recording double-digit digs in 21 of 32 matches. Martin collected 13 double-doubles, including four consecutive double-doubles from September 29 through October 7 and two consecutive double-doubles to conclude her career, against Green Bay in the Horizon League Tournament and against Louisville in the NCAA Tournament. .
