
American gymnast Simone Biles won the 2023 Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year award. This is the third time Biles has won the award. The 26-year-old impressed in her return to competition after a two-year hiatus following the 2020 Olympics. She won a record eighth US national title in August and added a sixth world gold medal in October. Biles is looking forward to returning to the Olympic Games in Paris next summer. Iowa State basketball star Caitlin Clark took second place in the voting, followed by Aitana Bonmatti of the World Cup champion Spain national soccer team.
