CEBU CITY, Philippines – Champion coach Karim Alucillo officially launched the Coach A Sports Academy on a larger scale in Cebu last Saturday, January 6.
Alocillo, the champion coach who led the Consolacion Sarok Weavers to the U-21 Philippine Premier League title in 2021, has expanded his sports academy in nine different venues across Cebu in his quest to unearth talented players in basketball and volleyball.
“This year, I’m very excited about our volleyball program because all of our coaches come from a great background of volleyball knowledge,” Alocillo told CDN Digital.
“For our basketball program, all of our coaches are Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) certified and have a college background. Rest assured that these coaches have the basic ability to coach our young athletes.
Their newest academy in Minglanilla City, southern Cebu, attracted about a hundred participants on its first day on Saturday.
After giving up his coaching job with the Sarok Weavers, Alocillo opened the Coach A Sports Academy and this academy has grown tremendously, serving over 300 aspiring athletes from all over Cebu.
“Our basketball program is entering its eighth year, while our volleyball program is in its third year. We are very proud to say that we have a large number of alumni athletes who are now playing for different schools. Our motto is to create champions on and off the court,” Alocillo said. “.

As a reminder, it was Alocillo who fired the shots on the touchline for the Sarok Weavers team that won the inaugural PSL U21 Aspirants Division Cup in Zamboanga del Norte in 2021.
They finished their campaign with an excellent 9-1 record (win-loss) and beat the home team, Roxas Vanguards by a score of 2-0 in a best-of-three finals series.
