Lauzon wins the all-around title
Las vigas- The No. 7 California women’s gymnastics team opened the 2024 season Saturday night with a second-place finish at Mean Girls Super 16. Junior Mia Lauzon He took the all-around title, and several Golden Bears found podium finishes.

The balance beam was the toughest event of the night for Cal, collecting just a 48.850 on the second session. Luzon led the way with a score of 9,900, outpacing the rest of the competition.
The Bears bounced back in the third round with a pair of strong performances from the anchor drill on the floor. Lauzon and a sophomore Emjay Frazier They each achieved a 9.925 to tie for third place as individuals and helped Cal earn 49.125 team points.
Opening night ended in the vault as the Bears took home the contest with a very strong score of 49.325. Once again, Luzon was in the lead with a 9.950 which gave her an equal share of the title. The junior will finish with three pole positions and four podium finishes.

Cal is now located at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in West Valley City, Utah at the site of the Pac-12 Championship – the Maverick Center. Waiting for the Bears will be Michigan State, NC State and BYU. The meet will be scheduled for Saturday at 7pm PT.
