December 19 (Reuters) – South Africa received a huge blow after their all-rounder Andile Bhlokwayo was ruled out of the rest of the one-day international matches against India ahead of the second match, which will be played in Jabrha on Tuesday.
Phehlokwayo, who scored 33 in South Africa’s paltry innings total of 116 in an eight-wicket loss in the opener on Sunday, is suffering from a side strain.
Off-spinner Otniel Baartman is also out of the squad with the same injury, and has been replaced by Bjoran Hendricks, who has won the last of his eight ODI matches in 2021.
A replacement for Phehlukwayo has not been named.
Updated South Africa ODI squad: Aiden Markram (captain), Nandre Berger, Tony De Zorzi, Boran Hendricks, Redha Hendricks, Heinrich Klaassen, Keshav Maharaj, Melali Mbongwana, David Miller, Jan Mulder, Tabriz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Viren. And Lizad Williams.
