Gaikwad is yet to recover from the finger injury he suffered during the second ODI against South Africa on Tuesday (December 19).
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the rest of the South Africa tour after injuring his right ring finger during the second One-Day International in Jabrha. He was replaced by Pinga batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is currently part of the India A squad in South Africa.
“he [Gaikwad] He underwent tests, and after consulting experts, the BCCI medical team ruled him out of the rest of the tour. A media statement issued by BCCI said he will report to the NCA for further dealing with his injury.
His finger injury did not allow him to participate in the crucial ODI on Tuesday (December 21), which India won. As a result, India made their ODI debut for Rajat Patidar.
“he [Gaikwad] He never fully recovered from the blow he suffered to his ring finger while fielding in the second ODI. “He remains under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” the BCCI said before the start of the third and final ODI on Thursday.
The selection committee also added Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Avesh Khan and Rinku Singh to the India A squad, while Kuldeep Yadav was released from the squad.
As the white-ball series comes to a close, India and South Africa will face off in a two-match Test series against the hosts, starting December 26 at Centurion. The tour will come to an end with the second Test, scheduled to be played in Cape Town from January 3 onwards.
