Cricket is an interesting game and a lot of things happen during the match which sometimes become funny. One such scene occurred on December 17 when India chased down a target of 117 runs against South Africa during the first ODI at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
India’s star batsman Shreyas Iyer was at the crease facing a delivery from left-arm fast bowler Nandre Burger in the ninth over.
In trying to hit the ball, Iyer’s bat flew towards square leg as the ball passed through mid-on, as he was attempting to bowl a powerful shot on a short delivery, causing him to lose his grip on his bat.

This was considered luck, as the upper edge of the shot did not fall directly into the player’s hand or hit the referee. However, the video clip of this scene spread on social media.
India vs South Africa:
Meanwhile, India defeated South Africa in the first ODI by eight wickets, after restricting the Proteas to just 116 runs in just 27.3 overs.
Batting first, the Proteas lost momentum and continued to lose wickets. India’s Arshdeep Singh took the ball while Avesh Khan picked four wickets. Kuldeep Yadav finished off the Proteas innings in his trademark style.
Thanks to his powerful spell, Arshdeep Singh became the first Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul against South Africa in ODI cricket, taking figures of 5/37 in 10 overs. He also won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant bowling performance.
Arshdeep Singh departed Hendricks and Dusin in the second over, as both batsmen failed to open their account. Then, Arshdeep Zorzi departed in the 8th over, with Klaasen on the last delivery of 10 overs hitting the stumps.
Chasing 117 runs, India’s leading ODI pacer Sai Sudharsan scored 55 runs, while Shreyas Iyer scored 52 runs, leading India to an 8-wicket win.
