Mumbai: In a historic victory at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India registered an impressive eight-wicket victory over Australia in the one-off women’s Test. This is the first time India has emerged victorious over Australia in the history of women’s Test cricket.

It is worth noting that Sneh Rana’s exceptional performance, where he claimed seven wickets, and Smriti Mandhana’s stunning score of 112 runs played pivotal roles in India’s victory.

In India’s first innings, Shafali Verma (40 runs off 59 balls) and Smriti Mandhana (74 runs off 106 balls) are at the top, Jemima Rodrigues (73 runs off 121 balls) and Richa Ghosh (52 runs off 104 balls) are in the middle. It helped India reach 406/10 and take a 187-run lead.

After dismissing the first- and middle-order batsmen, Deepti Sharma (78 runs off 171 balls) and Pooja Vastrakar (47 runs off 126 balls) kept the Indian innings going.

On the other hand, Australian spinner Ashley Gardner took four wickets. Kim Garth and Annabelle Sutherland picked up two wickets each in their spell.

In the visitors’ second innings, Tahlia McGrath (73 runs off 177 balls) and Ellyse Perry (45 runs off 91 balls) put up a tough battle and took the Aussie to 261-10, giving just 75 runs to the chase.

Unbeaten knocks from Smriti Mandhana (38* runs off 61 balls) and Jemima Rodriguez (12* runs off 15 balls) helped the home team chase down the target without any problems and ended the match on day 04 with an 8-wicket win.
