TEHRAN – Vahid Moradi was officially appointed president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) on Saturday.
Moradi has been vice president and chief advisor to the federation for years.
He was appointed acting president of the federation after Mohammad Reza Davarzani was forced to step down due to his retirement age.
Davarzani led the Iranian Volleyball Federation for nearly two decades, and the national team qualified for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games during his tenure.
Moradi, the former president of the Iranian Swimming Federation, will have to hold presidential elections and elections for the federation’s board of directors as soon as possible.
