The current champions have a chance to defend their title. Texas is back in the NCAA volleyball national championship game after dominating top-seeded Wisconsin in the semifinals. The Longhorns will face favorite Nebraska in one of the hottest rivalries in the sport.
While Texas beat Wisconsin in four tough sets, the Huskers made quick work of Pitt with a sweep. This year’s championship game will be the third time the Longhorns and Huskers have met in this matchup. Nebraska won its previous meetings in 1995 and 2015.
This time, they will be matched as evenly as possible. Freshman Bergen Riley vs. Ella Swindle, spunky freshman Harper Murray vs. two-time national champion Maddie Skinner on the outside, Lexi Rodriguez vs. Emma Halter in the back row and Becca Alec vs. Asjea O’Neill battle it out in the middle.
Confidence and consistency have grown in both teams over time. But this is for all marble. It will be a test of defense and determination.
