Bangladesh standout player Shakib Al Hasan, who is set to contest the upcoming national elections as a candidate for the ruling Awami League party, said he wants to give equal attention to cricket and politics.
Shakib told reporters on Monday after paying homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara, Gopalganj, that he is currently preparing for the January 7 elections and is planning how to develop his constituency, Majura-1, if he can win.
Responding to criticism that he is just a newcomer in the country’s politics, the cricketer said he will work equally in politics and on the field.
