Jazlin De Haan, who led Northwestern College to the school’s first volleyball national championship game, was named a first-team NAIA All-American.
Two of De Haan’s teammates also earned All-American honors. Alysen Dexter was named to the second team, while Olivia Granstra was named honorable mention.
De Haan, an outside hitter, recorded 4.69 kills/set, 521 kills and a .249 hitting percentage this season, as the Red Raiders vaulted into the No. 1 seed and the title match against Indiana Wesleyan, which they lost in five sets. excitement.
The Orange City junior has a team-high 19 double-doubles this season, including notching one in each game in the national championship game. She twice set a career high with 27 kills. Defensively, she has had five games this season where she recorded at least 20 digs per game. She was also one of six Red Raiders to have double-digit aces this year with 10.
De Haan earned First-Team All-American honors for the first time after earning honorable mention in her senior season at Northwestern last year. She was also named the 2023 GAPC Player of the Year and the AVCA West Central Region Player of the Year.
De Haan and Dexter have provided a solid 1-2 punch to the Red Raider offense this season. Dexter recorded 383 kills, or 3.30 per set, with a hitting percentage of .214. The junior from Urbandale also recorded 58 aces in the GPAC.
After earning third-team All-American honors last season, Dexter moved up to the second team this year. She was named to the AVCA West Central All-Region Team in consecutive seasons, earning first-team and all-conference honors in all three of her seasons as a Red Raider, including being named the 2021 GPAC Freshman of the Year.
Granstra has been the workhorse of the Red Raider back row this season from her free agent position. The junior from Sheldon led the team with 664 total digs, ranking second in the GPAC with 5.68 digs per set and setting a new career best in a single season. Five times this season she recorded more than 30 digs.
This season marks the second straight season that head coach Kyle Van Den Bosch has coached a First Team All-American while at Northwestern. He has now coached 16 First Team All-American selections since taking over the Red Raider program in 2005.
