Udupi, December 27: The 2023 Sriniketana Volleyball Premier League was inaugurated at the Mattapadi School Ground here. The event is being held in memory of Lalitha B. Hegde.
The first ever floodlit volleyball tournament Sriniketana Cup was held to develop Sriniketana School in collaboration with Matapadi Brahmavara, local bodies and alumni and to commemorate late Shivaram, Brahmavar and Jaliman Nadur as part of the birth centenary celebration.
The event was inaugurated by M Chandrashekar Kalkura, retired director of BSNL. “It is important for everyone to participate in sports,” he said in his inaugural address. Young people should participate in sports and achieve. By maintaining discipline, players can lead a healthy life. Participation is more important than winning.”
Ashok Kumar Shetty, retired principal of Sriniketana School, Harikrishna Hola, retired principal, Raviraj Shetty, retired faculty member, Muhammad Mushtaq and Suhas Pujari, students, were felicitated on the occasion.

A volleyball match was held between the invited teams from Brahmavar district and the local franchise teams.
