Thirteen players from across the state were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as All-Americans from last year.
Three players made the first team, two more made the second team, two more made the third team, and the other six were honorable mention.
The AVCA website states, “Nomination requirements are that the student-athlete must be in her final year of high school, the athlete must have played in at least 50% of her team’s sets, and be nominated by her senior AVCA member and the school’s head coach on each From the AVCA website as well as by providing MaxPreps statistics.”
Here are the NC players who made the list:
First Team: Lenny Smith of Chapel Hill, Sally Perez of Middle Creek, Asia Thigpen of Green Level.
Second Team: Ardrey Kill’s Camryn Shelton and Middle Creek’s Avery Scoggins.
Third Team: Victoria Kasanganayi of Ardrey Kill, Josie Zenzak of Middle Creek.
Honorable Mentions: Lexi Smolin of Chapel Hill, Ariel Walker of Cox Mill, Casey Gore of McMichael, Miracle Davis of Kings Mountain, Mary Grace Hogue and Charlie Medwell of Palisades.
