After successfully conducting the Junior National Championship, Odisha is all set to host the National Senior Artistic Gymnastics Championship at the Gymnastics Centre, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar from today.
Under the sponsorship of Odisha Gymnastics Association and Indian Gymnastics Federation
“The Junior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships ran smoothly and were a great success. We are now excited to host the Senior National Championships. We will see a lot of national athletes like Deepa, Pranati Nayak, Yogeshwar Singh, Rakesh, Tapan, Gaurav and others participating. We are excited to host the National Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships,” said Ashok Mishra, Head Coach, Odisha AM/ NS India High Performance Gymnastics: “The stakes are high, and it will definitely be a very interesting tournament.”
Huge gymnastics scene
The competition is scheduled to witness the participation of more than 300 athletes from all over the country.
Deepa Karmakar’s coach Bishweshwar Nandi said, “It feels great to be here. The venue and equipment are as per Olympic standards. Deepa is participating in the National Championships after almost eight years. There will be Pranati Das, Pranati Nayak, Aruna Reddy and many other top athletes “Participants too, so that’s good. I wasn’t able to come to the junior championships, but I would like to see the young athletes compete against these senior athletes. I liked the gymnastics center here, and I hope it produces a strong team in the next two years for the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympics.”
Pranati, who trains at Odisha AM/NS India High Performance Gymnastics Centre, expressed her happiness at participating in the national championships. “I will represent Indian Railways,” she said
