Welsh wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Horton has signed a new one-year contract extension with Glamorgan which will keep him at the club until at least 2025.
Horton signed his original deal as a 16-year-old, and the academy product made his debut in both T20 and List A cricket in that time.
The sharp-handed wicket-keeper, coupled with his powerful batting in the middle order, made him one to watch for the future at Glamorgan, and he took his chance to impress when the opportunity arose.
He played seven List A matches and four T20 matches for Glamorgan, most notably hitting 44* off 25 balls in the thrilling win in our last Metro Bank One Day Cup match of the 2023 season against Northamptonshire.
Alex Horton on signing a new contract: “I feel really good. It’s amazing to sign a new contract with Glamorgan and I’m looking forward to seeing what next season holds.
“I started last season with my first-team debut and playing in the One Day Cup was fantastic, and I hope to continue that next season and play some more games for my county.”
Director of Cricket Mark Wallace said: “It is great news that Alex has re-signed for the next two years.
“We are very fortunate with the wicket-keepers we have at the club and we look forward to seeing Alex continue to develop his talent here over the next few years.”
