Gabby Douglas, gymnast extraordinaire and member of both the Fierce Five and Final Five, left fans thrilled with her latest interaction.
Douglas, who returned to competitive gymnastics earlier this year in July, has been giving her supporters regular behind-the-scenes insights into her training sessions. Just last month, the 2012 Olympic champion made her way to her first national team camp after six years away from the sport.
Despite all this, there has been no news on when gymnastics fans can expect Gabby Douglas to return to competition. That may have changed now.
In the comments section of a recent TikTok video on her account, Douglas interacted with fans and teased her comeback. When one user asked, “Winter Cup?”, the American responded with a set of side eyes and smiling emojis, indicating that she might be participating in the event.

The 2024 Winter Cup is scheduled to be held in February, in Louisville, Kentucky, and is a qualifying event for the USA Gymnastics Championships.
Gabby Douglas’s most notable achievements
Gabby Douglas was without a doubt one of America’s best elite gymnasts of the 21st century. She first found the spotlight in 2010, when she took gold on the uneven bars at the Pan American Games as a 14-year-old. She also helped the United States capture the team title at the same event.
The following year, Douglas was part of the US team that won the 2011 World Championships. Gabby Douglas had a breakout year in 2012, becoming a household name after her exploits at the London Olympics. Not only did she become the first African American to win gold in the Olympic all-around event, but she also helped America to its first win in the team event in 16 years.
Douglas took a brief hiatus from competing in 2013, returning to the national team the following year. In 2015, the American won team gold and all-around silver at the World Championships in Glasgow.
The 27-year-old returned to competition at the Rio Olympics, once again winning team gold. After Rio, Douglas appeared to put her career on hold, and although she did not officially announce her retirement, she missed training and competitions for the next six years.
Rumors of Douglas’ return began in late 2022 and were confirmed by coach Valerie Liukin in February 2023. The gymnast herself announced her return in July of this year, with a lengthy note on Instagram.
