India and Australia will next play a three-match ODI series starting December 28. “Reward for all the hard work we have done for many years. Credit to the team and support staff. Reward for the hard work and patience,” Harmanpreet said in the post-match presentation.
“We just wanted to play positive cricket, that’s why we wanted to put Richa Ghosh at number three. We didn’t want to go back to defensive cricket and everyone knows how Richa plays. We just wanted to stick to the basics and do the right job,” Harmanpreet added.
“Our support staff asked me to bowl and I got those two important wickets,” Harmanpreet said. Aside from her success as a captain, she has also done her job as a bowler having picked up two big wickets each from Tahlia McGrath and wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy.
“Our bowling coach only tells the bowlers about taking wickets, not defending. What is the best we can do, what is the best we can give to the team,” Harmanpreet said.
“I wanted to thank the BCCI for giving us this opportunity. The selectors have also shown their trust in us. The crowd has also been coming in all four days, so thanks to them as well,” she added.
