The gymnastics team is preparing to start the new year

The Newtown High School gymnastics team is ready to compete on floor, vault, bars and balance beam. Newtown has a young team with just one senior and a wealth of newcomers and sophomores in the fold.

Coach Kim Kane’s Hawks will compete with junior Nicole Gutry, junior Kelsey Brennan, sophomore Isabella Muzio-Martinez, and freshmen Sadie Boyadjian, Kamila Kolesian, Eva Fenaroli, Aliyah Rother and Brianna Schoffstall.

The winter campaign begins with a visit on Friday, January 12 to New Milford to take on the host Green Wave along with Brookfield, Redding’s Joel Barlow and Woodbury’s Nonnewaug, at 6:30 p.m.

The Nighthawks will be at Newtown Gymnastics Academy on Monday, Jan. 15, when they visit Brookfield and New Milford at 10 a.m. Other teams on the list are Oxford and Southbury’s Pompeorug. The Southwest Conference Championship is scheduled to be played in New Milford on Friday, February 9 at 5 p.m.
