In what comes as a huge development from the world of cricket, former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson has been sacked by the Australian (CA) cricket team. Johnson was scheduled to speak at two public functions but following his explosive column against David Warner, he was banned from making two guest appearances scheduled to take place at the Perth Stadium during Pakistan’s Test match against Australia. The same was claimed in a report published by News Corp.
It is worth noting that Johnson said that Warner should not be given a hero’s sendoff due to his involvement in the sandpaper gate incident. In addition, he said that Warner was out of form in the longest format of the game and therefore should not have been given the opportunity to play his last Test match.
It was to everyone’s advantage that Johnson was not the guest speaker: California
“Mitchell is one of Australia’s most famous bowlers, but on this occasion we felt it was in everyone’s best interest for him not to be the guest speaker at CA functions,” a CA spokesperson told News Corp on Tuesday (December 19).
Meanwhile, it has been learned that Michael Hussey has been appointed to replace Johnson at the event.

After he was criticized for his column, he mentioned part of it that he regretted.
“There’s one thing I wasn’t happy with,” Johnson said on the Mitchell Johnson Show podcast.
“I didn’t notice it at the time. I was reading the article and I kind of agreed with it. The ‘Bunnings’ and ‘sandpaper’ part of it. Maybe it was distasteful. Maybe it was something uncalled for.” It said. The reason the sandpaper scandal comes up is because I don’t look at the statistics. I look at the whole picture. And I’m not trying to bring up that old stuff. But someone to get a farewell added: “And to be in that position that he was in and what they did at the time, that wasn’t quite right for me, and that’s why I brought this up.”
