Johnson wrote two columns for The West Australian, in which he criticized both David Warner and chief selector George Bailey during Warner’s farewell Test series.

“As we prepare for David Warner’s farewell series, can someone tell me why?” Johnson wrote in Western Australia.

“Why is a struggling Test opener able to set his retirement date.

“And why does a player at the center of one of the biggest scandals in the history of Australian cricket deserve to bid farewell to a hero?”

According to News Corp, Cricket Australia said Johnson went too far in his criticism of Warner.

“Mitchell is one of Australia’s most famous bowlers, but on this occasion we felt it was in everyone’s best interests for him not to be the guest speaker at CA functions,” a CA spokesperson told News Corp on Tuesday.
