Penn State women’s volleyball player Mac Podraza has been signed to a professional contract by the Grand Rapids Rays, it was announced Friday. Podraza spent one year at Penn State after playing the past four years at Ohio State.

“Mac was one of the best players in the Big Ten and nationally,” Rise coach Cathy George said in a news release. “She plays competitively and has a strong ability to play volleyball.”

During her college career, Podraza was named an All-American three times, although she missed out on that honor during her season at Penn State. Following her stint with the Nittany Lions, Podraza was named First team All-Big Ten. She was part of a Penn State team that reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament before falling to third-place Wisconsin.

Podraza finished college with 5,115 assists, 998 digs, 325 kills, 283 blocks, and 56 aces. At Penn State, she recorded 1,236 assists, 256 digs, 58 kills, 73 blocks, and 14 aces.
