Pakistan coach and team manager Mohammad Hafeez has backed the national team to turn the tables in the remaining two Tests of the series against Australia Down Under. The former editorial said Pakistan made detailed plans but failed when it came to implementation.

Led by Shan Masood, the visitors lost the first Test in Perth within four days by 360 runs. After failing to take a wicket in the first session on day one, Pakistan played catch-up as Australia highlighted their ruthlessness.

In a post-match press conference, Hafeez stressed the importance of execution and confidence in the team to beat Australia on their home turf. As quoted by ESPN Cricinfo, the former player said:

“I’ve told you before the atmosphere I’ve gotten from the preparation and the amount of talent these guys have. There’s no doubt the guys are capable of beating Australia in Australia. But obviously we haven’t been able to do it in terms of execution.

“The plan was in place. We prepared things accordingly and as a team I still believe Pakistan can beat Australia here in Australia. Obviously, as a team, we need to execute our skills whenever required.”

Pakistan’s batting unit showed a lot of promise in the first innings but collapsed like a pack of cards in the second. As the challenges on the pitch increased, the tourists were divided into 89 people.
