Las vigas-The action of the 2024 season began Friday afternoon as Madison Kirsch, Jada Mazuri, Marissa Ashton and Lauren McPherson led the San Jose State women’s gymnastics team to a 194.950 in the first session of the Mean Girls Super 16 Gymnastics Championships at Orleans Arena.

  • Kirsch earned a 9.850 to lead the Spartans on vault and finish in a tie for fourth.
  • The team scored 48.925 points, tying the 10th best team score in school history.
  • Mazzurri posted the highest individual team score of the day with a 9.875 on bars to tie for third place and help the bars team reach a 48.750.
  • Ashton made her Spartan debut on Friday, leading the beam team with a 9.825 to tie for sixth in the session.
  • Mazury and Macpherson each had a 9.800 on floor to tie for third place and help the floor team to a 48.625.
  • Three Spartans made their debut on the show on Friday — Ashton, Mia Nelson and Devin Valush.
