Alyssa Healy predicts Team India will dominate women's cricket

Australian women’s cricket team captain Alyssa Healy is gearing up for a tough encounter as her team takes on India in an upcoming one-off Test match. Despite Australia’s previous successes against India, Healy stresses the difficulty of beating the home team at home.

Healy warned her team against underestimating India, acknowledging the tremendous talent within the Indian team.

“In their home conditions, it is very difficult to beat India. We have had success in the past, don’t get me wrong, but the talent in the dressing room is something you cannot underestimate at any time,” Healy said ahead of the Test on Thursday.

While Australia have achieved victories over India in past tournaments, Healy anticipates a potential shift in momentum, admitting that the Indian team is on the verge of dominance.

Healy, who recently took over the role of Australia’s captain, highlights the competitiveness of the series against India, regardless of the format. After the one-off Test, the teams will play three ODIs and a three-match T20I series.

“Over the past few years, we have gained a slight advantage over them in crucial moments and key tournaments. However, it will not be long before the tide turns. This Indian team is expected to remain dominant for a long time,” she added.

“Seeing Troy Kohli in the Indian uniform is a bit scary. Having someone with his knowledge and experience in the dressing room, especially advising the fast bowlers, adds a challenge for us as a batting group, considering the valuable insights they may receive,” she said.

“For us, it’s the beginning of a new generation’s legacy, or whatever you want to call it. It’s a great opportunity to come to India for a month and challenge ourselves against a highly skilled team,” she concluded.
