Fears are growing that Cricket South Africa (CSA) is eroding much of the gains the Proteas women’s side made in reaching a historic T20 World Cup final earlier this year, by making no significant progress in finding a new head coach. for them.

Instead, coach Hilton Mooring will be given a second temporary four-month extension to his contract so the team in transition can at least have a coaching staff ready for next month’s high-profile trip to Australia.

The 45-year-old’s initial contract expired at the end of June, ironically four months after his supposed final stint – a successful 20-year masterpiece on home soil – because his replacement would have taken his place by then.
