Hawaii men's volleyball sweeps Loyola-Chicago in season opener

The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team showed off its ability to reload and rally in a 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 sweep over Loyola-Chicago on Wednesday night at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The No. 3 Rainbow Warriors opened their 2024 campaign with a victory, taking down the No. 10 Ramblers in their first two games.

Hawaii had a hotly contested first set, with libero Elio Choi stealing the show with seven moves that stunned the crowd.

After passing the second set, the team found itself trailing 15-7 in the third set. The Rainbow Warriors took control 18-5, fueled by Keoni Thiim’s serve.

Spyros Chakas had a game-high 16 kills for UH, while Choy had 17 digs. True freshman Tred Rosenthal had 32 assists for the ‘Bows.

The Rainbow Warriors and Ramblers will conclude their series on Friday at 7 p.m
