India ends Australia's dominance in women's cricket with historic Test win, earning applause

The Indian women’s cricket team registered a historic first Test victory over Australia by 8 wickets in Mumbai on December 24, with Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, and Deepti Sharma at the helm.

On the fourth day, India dismissed Australia for 261 and, while chasing a target of just 75 runs, Smriti Mandhana and Jemima Rodriguez led the team to a memorable victory in 18.4 overs.

Batting first, the Australian women’s team could only score 219 runs in 77.4 overs in the first innings and were all out. The highest distance scored was by Tahlia McGrath and that was 50 points.

For India, Pooja Vastrakar picked 4 wickets, Sneh Rana took 3, and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets.

Indian batsmen Smriti Mandhana (74), Jemima Rodriguez (73) and Deepti Sharma (78) led India to score 406 runs for Australia.

Ashley Gardner picked 4 wickets, while Kim Garth took 2 wickets each and Jess Jonassen grabbed one for the Australian team.

In the second innings, except for Talia McGrath (73) and Ellyse Perry (45), no other batsman could score more than 35 runs, resulting in the team collapsing at 261.

India’s Sneh Rana picked up 4 wickets in the second innings, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Harmanpreet Kaur picked two each. Pooja Vastrakar also grabbed one wicket.

Aiming to win by just 75 runs, Indians Smriti Mandhana (38) and Jemima Rodrigues* (12) led India to a historic first Test victory by 8 wickets.
