PREVIEW: Team India will look to seal the ODI series against South Africa when the two teams face off in the second ODI at Jakbirha on Tuesday. In the first ODI in Johannesburg on Sunday, the Men in Blue, led by KL Rahul, produced a dominant performance to defeat the Proteas by 116 after the hosts elected to bat first.
Arshdeep Singh (5/37) and Avesh Khan (5/27) shared nine wickets between them to bowl out the hosts by a meager total, and in reply, debutant Sai Sudharsen (55*) and Shreyas Iyer (52) shared 88 – Run stand for the second wicket to see out the visitors. At home in the end with 32.2 overs.
South Africa suffered a terrible start to their batting after being restricted to 52/6, with most of their batsmen failing to fire. However, at one stage, Andile Phlukwayo (33) alone provided resistance, but lacked support, before he was sent off in the 26th round.y more. The likes of David Miller (2) and Aiden Markram (12) failed to produce the aggression required to beat the Proteas.
As far as the Indian team news is concerned, Shreyas Iyer has been released from the ODI side and will join the Test squad before the Boxing Day Test.
