Excitement at the ongoing 2023 African U-17 Girls Volleyball Championship has reached peak as Nigeria’s U-17 girls’ national team registered a hard-fought victory over Cameroon, securing a coveted spot in the grand final of the tournament in Abuja.
In an exciting and tense encounter, the Nigerian girls defeated Cameroon for the second time in three days, beating them 3-1. Unlike their previous encounter where Cameroon initially took the lead before Nigeria came back, this time, the Nigerian team started strong, winning the first set 26-24.
However, Cameroon responded strongly, taking the second set 25-23, tying the match.
The Nigerian U-17 girls maintained their resilience and intensified their efforts, achieving a narrow victory 26-24 in the third set. With determination and precision, they won the final set 25-19, winning the match 3-1 against the strong Cameroonian team.
The stage is now set for today’s final showdown of the tournament in Abuja, where Nigeria’s U17 girls will take on Egypt in a high-stakes battle for the championship title.
Egypt’s under-17 teams, who played one match less than the host country, secured their place in the final after defeating both Nigeria (3-0) and Cameroon (3-2) in their previous matches.
It is worth noting that Nigeria, after defeat against Egypt in its opening match, fought with resilience and endured an additional match to secure second and final place in the tournament.
With anticipation building, the two teams are gearing up for an exciting showdown in the final, promising a spectacle of talent, skill and fierce competition as they battle it out for the coveted title of the African Nations Girls U-17 Volleyball Championship.
