The Cardinals received four first-place votes with 23 points, one point ahead of Carthage, which received 22 points in the poll and the remaining two first-place votes. The vote was taken by the league’s coaches late last week.

Last spring, NCC swept the regular season and CCIW tournament titles for the first time en route to advancing to the NCAA tournament game. Loras was picked third in Friday’s poll with 18 points. North Park was fourth (12 points), followed by Illinois Wesleyan (nine points) and Augustana (six points).

The 2024 season officially begins next Friday, January 12, with three teams from the league participating for the first time. A 10-game dual conference schedule for each team opens in late February. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will compete in the annual CCIW Championship, with the semifinals taking place on Wednesday, April 10 and the title game on Saturday, April 13.
