Pranati Nayak’s win over Deepa Karmakar in the Vault final on Thursday turned heads at the National Artistic Gymnastics Championships at the newly built gymnastics facility at Kalinga Stadium Complex in Bhubaneswar. The 28-year-old Pranati Nayak is a two-time Asian bronze medalist and was India’s only competitor in the gymnastics competition at the Asian Games last year.

Railways Pranati Nayak, 2020 Olympian, averaged 13,067 points in her vault, earning 13,300 and 12,833 respectively. Deepa Karmakar (Tripura) averaged 12.584 after scoring 12.700 and 12.467 respectively. Interestingly, both Pranati Nayak and Deepa Karmakar scored 13.40 points on vault in the all-around final on Wednesday.

Deepa Karmakar celebrated her return to the National Championships with a win in the all-around competition on Wednesday.
