TEHRAN – Belgian coach Vital Henin is reportedly a serious candidate to take charge of the Iranian men’s national volleyball team.
Negotiations with Iran were also held with Gianlorenzo Bellengini and Roberto Piazza from Italy, Russian Vladimir Alekno, and Iranian coaches Payman Akbari and Saeed Marouf.
Media reports indicate that Al-Ittihad has reached an agreement with Henin to replace Behrouz Atai.
Iran’s chances of reaching the 2024 Paris Olympics are slim due to poor results in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Nations League and the Olympic qualifiers.
The Iranian team needs a long-term plan to reach its best days. The Federation must find a new coach for the national team as soon as possible.
