India opener Shubman Gill’s reign at the top of the ODI list was short-lived as he was replaced by former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam in the ICC player rankings released on Wednesday. The Indian was ranked first during the ODI World Cup last month, but since then he has not played any ODI match. Babar returned to the top with 824 rating points, while Gill (810) ranked second followed by his teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Shreyas Iyer has dropped to 12th, while KL Rahul has moved to 16th. In the bowlers’ chart, South African pacer Keshav Maharaj remains at the top, followed by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj (third), Jasprit Bumrah (fifth) and Kuldeep Yadav (eighth) are the other Indians who will feature in the top ten.
Mohammed Al-Shami came in 11th place, while spinner Ravindra Jadeja ranked 22nd.
The all-rounder list is relatively unchanged, with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan still at the top.
Jadeja (12) and Hardik Pandya (17) are the only two Indians in the top 20. In T20Is, India’s Suryakumar Yadav remains at the top of the batting chart.
Adil Rashid ranks first among T20 bowlers, becoming the second English bowler after Graeme Swann to do so.
Rashid has replaced Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, thanks to his seven hauls in four T20Is against West Indies, while Ravi Bishnoi (3rd) is the highest-ranked Indian.
Shakib tops the chart among all players in T20, with Pandya (fourth) being the highest-ranked Indian.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson dominates the top spot among Test batsmen, followed by Joe Root (second) and Steven Smith (third).
Australia’s Usman Khawaja has risen to number four after an excellent display in the opening Test against Pakistan in Perth. Rohit (10th) is the highest-ranked Indian.
Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin tops the Test bowling chart, followed by Kagiso Rabada, Shakib and Jadeja.
A few Australians have moved up the ranks, with skipper Pat Cummins rising to third, followed by Nathan Lyon (fifth), Mitchell Starc (eighth) and Josh Hazlewood (10th), thanks to their dominant display against Pakistan.
In the overall chart, Jadeja remains at the top, followed by Ashwin at number two, while Axar Patel is at number five.
