Emmerson “Emme” Cerasuolo is listed in the Haverhill High girls’ volleyball program as a setter.
But she’s nowhere near her true position on the team: generational talent.
The senior capped off her incredible career as a volleyball star this fall, leading the Healys to become co-champions of the Merrimack Valley Conference, earning three league titles during her four-year varsity career.
Not only that, she graduated with the most assists in a single season this fall – 558! – in the program’s history and more than 1,000 in her career.
She also had an amazing serving percentage of 98.2.
“Her best attribute as a volleyball player is her ability to play every position at a high level,” Haverhill coach Vincent Pettis said. “Seter is not her favorite position, but it is what the team needs so she focused on it.”
Volleyball is a big part of her life as she also plays on club teams, tournament teams, and beach volleyball.
“Emme is one of those special players that comes up every once in a while,” Pettis said. “She does all the little things on and off the field. Best of all, she is an amazing student and a role model for all of our student-athletes.”
Pettis, who was referred to as a quiet leader in the big win over Andover in Game 2, recalled Cerasuolo playing a more vocal role with many aces and kills.
Cerasuolo has not yet made a decision on her college plans. She has expressed interest in larger schools like Michigan and Virginia Tech, where she will play club volleyball. They are also recruited by some departments. 3 schools, including Skidmore College and Haverford College (Pennsylvania).
“It will be despite losing Amy,” Bettis said. “She’s one of our greats.”
