LSU Gymnastics kicked off their 2024 season with an impressive win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday. The Tigers took the proud win by scoring 196.975 points, leaving the Buckeyes at 196.755 points. Furthermore, the LSU gymnastics team placed third, while the opposing team placed 14th.

Friday’s thrilling match between the Tigers and Bucs witnessed impeccable dedication among the gymnasts to emerge victorious. However, the clear progress was with the LSU gymnasts.

They started the meet by dominating the vault event. Gymnast Haley Bryant came out on top with a score of 9.950. Furthermore, freshman Amari Drayton scored 9.925 points on the same vault combination.

By the end of the first session, the Tigers were at 49.375 and Ohio State scored 49.125. After competing on the uneven bars, LSU Tigers Gymnastics held a .325 lead over Ohio State after the second session.

However, the Tigers’ weakness in the balance beam round began to be highlighted. Alexis Jeffrey started the tour with Sierra Ballard but was quickly interrupted by Ballard. Student Connor McLean tried to even the points. Her fall concluded the event with a score of 8,950 points.
