Two gold medals for Pranati Das at the National Gymnastics Championships

Railway gymnast Pranati Das had a memorable day as she bagged gold medals in uneven bars and floor exercise and finished second in the women’s all-around category at the National Senior Artistic Gymnastics Championships here on Thursday.

Pranati Nayak, Pranati’s teammate, also had a productive day, winning gold on vault and bronze on balance beam.

Olympian Deepa Karmakar, representing Tripura, bagged three medals, including gold in the all-around category. The 30-year-old gymnast also took silver on uneven bars.

Odisha’s Rakesh Kumar Batra won the tournament with two gold medals – all around and on rings – along with a silver in the parallel bars and a bronze in the horizontal bar.

Gaurav Kumar of Services also won four medals, including floor exercise gold. He also won silver medals in the parallel bars and horizontal bars and bronze in the all-around category.

Railways’ Siddharth Verma finished second in the all-around, besides winning gold in vault and silver in pommel horse. Yogeshwar from Haryana won gold in horizontal bar and bronze in pommel horse.
